Steve Wayman joined our team in 2019 and provides strategic consulting services, leaning on over 40 years of experience in the energy industries. At the start of his career, he worked as an engineer for more than a decade at British Petroleum. He then progressed through a series of managerial roles. For 12 years he was CEO of Wood Group Kenny, an engineering and management consultancy, growing to 3,000 employees.
During this time, Steve was responsible for the incubation of new start-up companies within the organisation. After a few short years, one of these corporate spin-offs had grown past 80+ engineers in two key global locations (i.e. Scotland and Australia) and another one had evolved into an international technology business serving corporate clients in a diverse range of sectors with 500+ employees.
He was later appointed as an Executive President (Strategy and Development) of their parent company, Wood Group PLC. This was where he successfully spearheaded the acquisition and integration of Amec Foster Wheeler with Wood Group to create a global conglomerate “Wood”, which now employs over 40,000 people in over 60 countries.
It is this vast experience that gives Steve a unique set of skills, particularly in the area of corporate venture building.
Steve has an honours degree in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College London and speaks English and French. Currently he is also a Non-Executive Board Member of a community theatre in London.
